as the resident landoscar scholar/essayist in the community, i'm curious about your take on their debriefs! ps. i love them both equally so i'm not trying to favor one over the other, just genuinely curious about your thoughts on it :)

it definitely could just be them having different styles of communicating and/or explaining things but i've noticed that whenever lando wins, he always shares his gratitude/appreciation for the team and oscar (even when oscar didn't directly 'help' him) and oscar will give lando credit for winning but then just talk about how bad he did in the race

yet whenever oscar wins, not only does lando hype him up, but he doesn't talk about himself in the debrief & oscar (at least not to my knowledge) has yet to thank/acknowledge lando for contributing to his win (& strangely enough has always thanked sponsors instead??)

your timing is insane anon bc while scholar and essayist are wayyyy too nice ways to describe me being overly consumed w a hyperfixation, I was actually noticing things similar to your ask in comments sections and had written something that I wasn't sure about posting ! but I think it's worth it simply bc there is such a huge misfire with interpreting Oscar going on - totally not saying you are, anon and you were very clear in what you've said and I rly appreciate you wanting to know my take <3

- first thing to dispel is “Lando thanked Oscar for his first win/for helping make his first win happen” - he didn't! he thanked him for showing what the car was capable of with overtakes. I know I know! reality isn’t as bromancey but the sweetness of it was Lando giving Oscar’s drive a little shout out, but it was not him thanking Oscar for helping with his win. that's why they all chuckled when he stated the reason. and the sweetness remains <3<3 gotta clear that up bc there is no lingering double standard going on there. it’s the same as Oscar praising Lando’s drives. (also, apropos of this ask and ppl seeing Oscar as deficient - contrast that with how Oscar did very deliberately thank Lando for welcoming him to the team!)

- the other thing to dispel is the recency bias of thinking Lando praises and mentions Oscar this much on a regular basis/Oscar doesn’t mention Lando at all (anon, I know you’re not saying that btw). now! reality is that Lando's POV =/= his stans' POV. so from his perspective, as of recently he feels a need to assert himself to the media as a team player and to acknowledge Oscar more and make it known that he acknowledges Oscar helping him in similar ways. I’m not even going to dip a little toe into the reasons why, all that matters is that this is what Lando sees as something he needs to do and say right now especially. plenty of team orders instances and races have gone by where Lando doesn’t mention or acknowledge Oscar or Oscar’s help and plenty of times where Oscar has been the one to bring up and praise Lando where Lando hasn’t etc etc.

to the point where !! last season we had people concerned that Oscar was so Lando-centric and mentioned him so much and was such a great team player with team orders and being happy and supportive for Lando’s successes even when his own race was misery or the result was gutting or he just lost out on a podium - but that Lando wasn’t bringing Oscar up at all or acknowledging Oscar’s races. the turntables etc! literally had the flip situation! (even extending to this season in Melbourne where Lando got so wrapped up in his Quadrant filming and podium he kind of forgot it was Oscar’s literal hometown race salfsafjlah in the post race press conf a journalist brought it up and he was like ‘oh’ - like, Oscar was not upset about that he just wanted a podium!)

and guess what - in both cases it was never a problem for either Lando or Oscar!

seriously, I cannot emphasize enough how much what teammates like Lando and Oscar say to the media and fans is for the media and fans and NOT how they actually communicate to each other as people. Charles and Carlos openly admit they’ll bite chunks out of each other at times in media but then they see each other in person, immediately hug and are totally fine. PR is PR. it’s either not reality or at best it’s a publicly-framed version of it. which leads to…

- Lando and Oscar don’t do the PR or the bromance thing. instead they giggle and side-eye their way through having to do scripted stuff and media interviews, and thankfully their occasional shared-brain thing and contrasting personalities are fun enough for most fans to enjoy. and literally the fact that they beam into each other’s faces Like That and it’s incredibly endearing. which is exactly how they handle these post race videos - trust me, they are not sitting there in media talking the same way they do in their little closed off world of just their drivers rooms and no one else. or even when cameras are off and they’re just around the team or other drivers. equally, they aren’t viewing how they talk about each other to media and fans as relevant. it’s solely how they talk to each other.

- Oscar is an acts of service guy; Lando is a words of affirmation guy. as Lando fandom has so much discussion around mental health*, it is very worth reminding that mental health inclusivity means learning the different ways that different personalities express affection and friendship! there is not just one way! clearly, Lando is very happy with having a teammate who may not talk much but his fondness of Lando makes up multiple compilation videos and posts about being absolutely whipped when it comes to … almost anything Lando wants or prefers (“nope, I’m gonna keep you happy”). and paying such close attention to Lando talking that he helps fill in the blanks when Lando’s brain struggles in public. and watching closely when Lando looked like he might trip over his own race suit. 

- it’s worth mentioning here that Oscar inspires genuine affection in people who gain absolutely nothing from openly liking him. he maintains friendships from his early karting days, still has a group chat from the boys in his boarding house at school, and has been with Lily for 4 or 5 years now - but all of those people either have private social media or have remained so thoroughly normal that they’re undetectable. Tom Stallard, his race engineer, and Andrea Stella have taken to Oscar like a nephew/son despite Oscar not being a demonstratively emotional person (and how for himself he views extreme emotions on par with negative emotions which is innnnteresting!). bear in mind that Andrea and Tom remain very fond of Carlos and count him as a friend still, so their judgment is very much to be trusted <3 if you look up Oscar’s mum Nicole’s episode on The Red Flags Pod she confirms that he’s truly Just Like That and his family adore him. there’s also this tiny but very telling moment of Oscar sending a journalist gifts for their new baby and the fact that The Fast and the Curious Pod (wholesome nerds HQ) view Oscar as their child. and that Abbi Pulling thinks he’s “too nice to be a racing driver”. it’s healthy to learn how to receive love and affection from people based on how they are naturally and comfortably rather than expecting them to behave in ways that are more socially the norm/seen as "acceptable"! 

*and side note it’s extremely gross and anti-mental health the way certain F1 fans have genuinely decided to interpret Oscar’s personality type as evil or cold or unfeeling. that is so profoundly backward and bigoted boomery thinking. yes it’s fine to joke a bit that Oscar’s a baby-face killer or robotic IF you make it clear it’s not true. but when I get sent links to adult women on tiktok claiming that Oscar’s mother and sister are part of some grand PR scheme orchestrated by McLaren to manipulate and maximize Oscar’s image then we’ve officially left the whole ‘I support mental health’ thing and entered ‘I persecute and suspect people who don’t fit a socially acceptable norm’. because of all the drivers who quite literally do orchestrate and manipulate PR for growing their careers or their impact (which is fine btw!!) sorry, Nicole’s sporadic social media presence is not remotely skillful PR and Oscar’s little sister is a college girl using tiktok to talk about her own interests. and if Oscar was trying to PR his way into whatever gain people imagine an introvert who dislikes being on camera could possibly gain then he’s doing an abominable job! his sponsors are still the ones he’s had since before F1 (including his dad’s company), his social media is as standard and bland with highly irregular sprinklings of personality, and he isn’t branching out into anything outside his racing career. like, sorry to destroy anyone’s insane projections of some grand plan onto a guy who truly is just happy to have his job and hang out with his friends and his girlfriend lasfgljsagfjlagfslagfsaj

so anyway, when Lando and McLaren team and staff members love on Oscar, it’s because it’s real and they clearly feel reciprocation from Oscar despite it not being traditionally emotional or verbal. plenty of teams and teammates can be neutral to fully disinterested in a driver and it's fine for it to be like that. if nobody actually liked Oscar or found him cold or unfeeling, they would make little to no effort to seem like they love him or like him. F1 isn't team sports, the whole public face of it aspect just doesn't exist outside of backmarker teams who need social media engagement to keep sponsors happy.

- Oscar is famously Not ! a public speaking/on camera/PR/media person and you can see in their early 2023 stuff how much Lando helps him (this video esp is painfully cute bc Lando encourages and praises him and Oscar’s so pleased he does a song and dance). ask any longtime Oscar fan and they’ll tell you he’s leaned on the energy of extroverts and PR skilled people his whole racing career. and no, he really does not try to be a meme that's just what happens to awkward introverted ppl who have to be on camera a lot ;__;

- Lando used to be just as uncomfortable as Oscar with this stuff! and he’s said many times he has learned and adapted to be better at public speaking and media work, just as Oscar is learning! Carlos basically socialized and raised Lando from shy, twitchy mumbly little introvert to the person he became around 2021/2022. and we all observed how Lando basically copied Carlos and Daniel’s sense of humor to develop the bromance content we all know and love. and he does the same with Max F on streams as well. I wish I could find it but he said in one of the early winter break 2023 streams how he ‘usually lets other people do most of the talking and he interjects occasionally’.

-re the “thanking the sponsors” thing: to help Oscar get by on camera, especially with spontaneous speaking, Oscar uses little ‘scripts’ he’s worked out and approved of ahead of time so that he doesn’t have to deal with the white noise that hits him when having to speak spontaneously (the famous little ahhhh’s and uhhhhm’s and long delays he has before answering). which is why things like thanking the sponsors has been in rotation lately since it’s something Andrea said (remember him being teased for saying 'we're in Austria' x 50? and repeating the bit about his wisdom teeth? and the refrain of ‘my girlfriend says…’) because he’s just trying to get out something he knows is acceptable and palatable. compare the stiffness of his post race videos with when he’s one on one with an interviewer (the Laura Winter one is great) or filming non-scripted stuff w Lando and you can see the difference between him feeling under pressure vs how he expresses himself when he’s relaxed. 

- it’s genuinely weird and adorable how Oscar doesn’t use gushy language or do PDA with Lily or Lando, but in exactly the same way with both he loves bringing up their little quirks or what they disagree with him about or things they like that he doesn’t etc ??? idk if they’re secretly very similar or what but for some reason Oscar shows his affection for them only occasionally in plain terms, but mostly by bringing them up seemingly for no reason and in extremely mundane ways ?? idk it’s just a very very cute observation I wanted to point out and he doesn’t do that with any other people aslfgsljagfafgl

so yes, those are the Things To Know about Oscar and his relationship with other people and with Lando to explain why he isn’t like Lando, Carlos, or Daniel. and that whether or not Lando or Oscar bring each other up or acknowledge each other in media duties is not something to get stuck on because that’s not something they personally pay attention to in their relationship. we got used to a specific almost identical type of teammate relationship with Lando’s previous two - and even other teammates who are less close all follow a similar pattern of humor and media friendly behavior. but Oscar is weird, Lando is weird and just adapts better, and they’re both very weird together. they can mindread when not under pressure and they obsess over details about each other’s food and choices etc and go off on bizarre tangents about naps and music and they don’t like posting content about their downtime together/purely social hanging out. oh and they openly complain that they want to spend more non-racing time together as if they couldn’t just… do it more ?? yea they’re just like that.

somehow I have more to say but it’s mostly observations so under a cut it goes (but the stuff above is basically the main points I wanted to make!)

a lot of misconceptions have happened both because Lando's grown and changed so much since the start of 2023 and because Oscar's real personality is so slow to be revealed... and tbh it's def yet to be understood fully by a lot of people…

Lando very openly kicked against the idea of being the older/more experienced big brother role widely expected of him when Oscar was announced for Mclaren (to this day he jokingly but semi seriously says he envies Oscar’s “youth”). Lando had spent the previous four years as little brother and gotten very comfortable in that role. around Austin 2023, he realized Oscar was happy to look after himself and didn't need serious help with anything except media/PR/public speaking. this is where Lando found his big brother role and ran with it happily. it’s where the Finish the Lyrics video happened and we saw a major shift in the landoscar dynamic.

take Lando’s initial insecurity trying to figure out the dynamic with a quiet, low energy rookie and contrast that with how someone five years behind in experience to their teammate is NOT as secure of his position** and has much more to prove. yes Oscar has a contract but he knows better than anyone !! that those are not set in stone or immutable. he frequently has said - and his mom has said - Lando's place in F1 is already established as a front-runner. therefore Oscar's job is to push himself and prove himself to that level.

all of which is why you can’t look at Lando and Oscar in media - or even on track - and mistake their closeness in age for being able to judge them similarly. 

**the refrain of 'why can't he be a support driver until Lando gets a WDC' is easy to answer: for one thing absolutely NO driver wants that and for another, he very understandably does not assume he has the space or stability to just not try his hardest unless specifically asked by the team. 

without opening a can of worms on my personal opinions, I’ve consulted my family/friends of family who have been F1 obsessed since I was born - and the reality of guys who are seen or who actually are ‘support driver’ (not rly an official term but we all know what it is) is NOT the same as a number 2 driver, and neither of those are even options for Oscar. 

a number 2 is a driver seen as having become relatively disposable compared to the number 1 and who just wants to keep a seat in F1 despite the insult. they will at least tacitly accept that their role is to follow team orders and suck it up while number 1 chases the glory (whether that’s points or podiums). a number 2 has a limited life span either because his skill drops off and he becomes a liability or because he can’t stand it after a while.

a support driver is someone who either brings money/sponsorships/a unique regional fanbase and can occasionally or at least theoretically compete with their teammate. and who for whatever reason is judged as the guy who has to suck it up when the other guy has a better shot at the glory. but if the other guy falls behind or suffers a DNF, the support driver is automatically the number one. and if the support driver has a shitty season or the gap in ability widens between him and his teammate, he retains his seat anyway because of the money/sponsorships/unique regional fanbase he brings. so basically, he’s pretty damn safe.

Oscar does not bring money, sponsorships or a unique regional fanbase. Australia doesn’t need convincing to be invested in F1, Oscar’s sponsorships are peanuts compared to what sponsor-grabber Zak Brown already has and Oscar’s funding ran out before F1 and his career only continued because of Mark Webber taking an interest in him (for more on that, see K’s excellent primer - you can scroll down to the screencap of a sheet with a lot of numbers on it for that particular part). and despite insane conspiracy theories about him, Oscar’s PR and image not only don’t have anywhere near the numbers of many other drivers, he also had to recover from the immensely bad PR following Alpinegate. he had most fans of McLaren, Alpine, Danny Ric and Lando (as the prospective teammate) all hating his guts before he’d even stepped into his first papaya race suit. all he’s had getting him past all of that was his promise from F2 and F3 and then his improvement as a driver.

so that’s being support driver out of the question.

and also referencing Mark Webber, without leaning too cornily into the obvious like… no, Oscar’s not going to be the one F1 driver to be okay with the idea of being a number 2. his own mother said how he viewed potentially having Lando as a teammate as advantageous for a rookie because he wouldn’t be expected to match up immediately. the flipside of that is what he’s had to achieve and become immediately after his rookie year in order to be seen as around Lando’s level. his job is to prove to McLaren and to his race team that he's going to try and bring them the best result on every outing. if mathematically that means team orders in favor of Lando then fine, which he's more than proven he'll do. but without said orders, Oscar's job remains to try and get at the very front - just like it is Lando's. there isn't an option or a reason for Oscar to just... intentionally fail or ease off that responsibility (again, unless ordered to).

so that's a no go for being a number 2 driver.

and some more about Oscar and mental health for those who think it only applies to drivers who talk about it frequently: Oscar has talked about how, when his dad came with him to the UK, initially Oscar felt he had "too much time to think". and about his difficulties in moving all alone to boarding school (“sacrificing” being with his family) on the other side of the world at fourteen. I cannot for the life of me find the post again but he even hired a sports psychologist to help him. he’s always been called mature and competent for his age and he and Lily seemed to just go right into domestic almost-married codependency after about two years together. there’s a whole school of thought about children who leave home early and parentification and boarding school syndrome etc but that’s getting way too speculative for even me to go into. but basically, Oscar leapt into a lot of unknowns without a lot of the usual safety nets drivers have/have had. he's had to be self-reliant in a way that's not common among the extreme privilege of the average F1 driver and for those who have it similar to him, they have a similar outlook and approach***. so to mistake his confidence and determination for cockiness or coldness is as wildly off as people misinterpreting Lando’s genuine honesty for him being a cocky asshole. overall, Oscar’s self-assurance and maturity are why he’s continued and succeeded in such a volatile sport and pipedream career because compared to a lot of other drivers on the grid, he has not had a smooth or assured journey.

***obv in reality, apart from Ocon and Hamilton, we're always talking about very relative disadvantages. but Oscar is absolutely in the class of drivers who have to live far away from a family support system and who financially were not guaranteed career progression.

by contrast, Lando was a totally unique phenom and had big, welcoming hands grab him as a teenager and bring him into the McLaren and F1 fold. pundits and cameras and fans all saw him bringing drinks to Alonso and toddling around being helpful in the garage before his time with the team had even come. by the time he drove his first F1 race he was already everyone's beloved baby and Carlos basically got a crash course in parenting as he took full responsibility for socializing Lando and even having to cope with his teenage mood swings. Lando also had a comparatively gentle learning curve by dint of being so immensely talented and exceeding expectation for his age - but also always having older, more experienced teammates as his nearest competition. I will say he made sure to state he didn't want people to give him bias simply because his teammates had such an advantage of experience - and that he personally judged himself equally against them (to his detriment of confidence sometimes!). but it's only logical that people would factor in the age gaps anyway. by the time he'd entered his third year in F1 he was firmly established, had one of the largest fanbases and McLaren couldn't have made it clearer how badly they wanted to keep him from the clutches of other teams.

again - very much NOT saying that Lando doesn't feel the need or pressure to keep proving himself because he absolutely does, but it's still a VERY unique and unusual first few years in F1 !! 

Oscar had a very different experience of not knowing if he could progress after winning F2, having to hang around in reserve and then show up at McLaren without much fanfare (except the unanimous walls of hate from Danny Ric fans, Alpine fans and McLaren fans) and work from the backmarkers up with the team to prove himself - all while those months before the upgrades were spent with fans united in wanting him to fail and celebrating his difficulties.

so yea, all even more worth bearing in mind when it comes to how Lando takes the approach of speaking about Oscar and the team from a proprietary sense of pride - versus Oscar still focusing on his own races because it’s normal for young drivers early in their careers to be more focused on proving themselves and asserting themselves in order to become established in the way Lando is now. they seem so similar in so many ways but when it comes to their positions in the team and in the sport, it’s well worth remembering that big gap exists and why it makes them different sometimes - but that crucially, they end those post race videos united either in misery or in happiness and pride <3

Usually when you get back from a research trip, regardless of the duration, Tighnari would be waiting for you at the entrance, flinging himself into your arms the second he sees your figure. However, your husband’s nowhere in sight this time. Strange. 

The walk to yours and Tighnari’s shared home is similarly uneventful, the lush forest is exactly as you remembered it and you wave to the few forest rangers you meet along the way. You receive cheerful greetings as they welcome you back from your 2-month long trip to Fontaine, one of the longer research trips in a while. As you draw closer to your home, your eyes catch on how the leaves at the front are shifted down to shield the inside of the hut from prying eyes. Weird, is Tighnari out right now? Even so, he typically doesn’t close off the hut either. 

You warily make your way over, ears alert and pointed up as your tail is held tensed outwards. The closer you get, the stronger a particular scent wafting through the air becomes. It’s overly sweet, cloying and heady yet, it’s mixed with something sour. Your ears swivel, honing in on the direction of your home as you pick up on soft muffled breaths and rustling on the bed. Setting your trunk down, you cautiously move the leaves aside, they shift but before you can peek inside, you’re forcefully pulled in by a familiar arm.

Upon recovering from the shock, your eyes rake over the sight in front of you and the air is punched from your chest, replaced with pure carnal lust. So this was what your husband was up to instead of receiving you up when you first got back. Hurriedly, you free your cock from the confines of your pants and Tighnari wastes no time stroking you to fullness before sinking down on your length in one fluid motion. His head is thrown back at the stretch and as he clamps down around you, a throaty whine rips out of him.

it's only until one of the tweels point out that you seem to be in love with him, that the realisation hits him like a cauldron to the head

after that, he starts returning your affections by helping you with anything you might need, tutoring, miscellaneous duties Crowley threw your way, etc., or just throwing gifts at your direction

he'll walk into his office ready for another day of work only to find that you've already sorted out most of the paperwork for him

there's a lovestruck smile on his face as he plans what he could do in return or get you as a gift

he finds it so odd that he'd do anything for you, and not expect you to do anything in return

oh how far the businesses man has fallen

Azul's voice, soft and sincere, carries a touch of gratitude as he addresses you. "Angelfish, I am truly grateful for your help with the mountain of paperwork," he says. A smile, warm and affectionate, dances upon his lips as he continues, his voice infused with a hint of excitement. "As a token of my gratitude, would you like to join me for dinner tonight? It's on me," he offers.

jade's a bit confused when you start offering your help to him, but it doesn't take long for him to understand you're doing it out of affection

he might feel a bit obliged to return the favour, so sometimes he'll refuse your help

but he can't deny how endearing it is when you offer to take care of his mushrooms when he's too busy at work

or when you join him on hikes to help him find whatever mushroom is in season

he's very much used to taking care of people around him, with him basically acting as a secretary to Azul, and always having to act as the more reasonable twin in comparison to Floyd

you make him feel seen in a way and he finds himself smiling unconsciously when he sees you trying to help him in whatever way you can

he finds himself wanting to rely on you more, while also reaching out to you in concern when he sees you're struggling with something

he's so glad to be offering his services to you

sometimes you take up shifts in the Mostro Lounge when Jade's also working to alleviate some of the work on his shoulders

it's not obvious to others, but he works more efficiently and there's a slight smile on his face

he loves the simple connection the two of you have, having a great dynamic that plays off great when working together

"We make quite a nice pair, don't we?" Jade's voice comes from behind. You turn to see him, a gentle smile on his face that feels more genuine thank the usual he shows. "It's always a joy when I'm working alongside you. Thank you so much for offering your assistance," he says, before reaching for your hand and placing a kiss on it, his eyes piercing and never looking away from yours.

most of the time he's doing his duties purely out of obligation and complaining the whole while

so if you offer to do it for him, he'll be elated and run off to do whatever he's in the mood for

definitely takes your willingness to help him for granted and starts asking you to do his work for him

jade will tell him not to be too spoiled with his demands though

and if he sees you're overworked or upset while working he'll whisk you away from whatever is hurting you

wraps his arms around you and squeezes you, apologising that he's been too irresponsible

his affection for you grows so unexpectedly, but with you were always there for him, willing to lend him a hand, he found himself always in a good mood when you were around

he'll return your affection with lots of squeezes, random gifts that reminded him of you, and he's always willing to help you if you need a hand

this eel can be very efficient when he's determined and motivated, so you'll see the best of him when he's actually doing tasks for you

"Shrimpy!" Floyd exclaims as he catches sight of you. He envelopes you in his arms, squeezing gently while mushing his cheek into the top of you head. "I'm sorry I gave you so much work," he murmurs softly, his voice laced with sincerity and regret. In a swift motion, he lifts you effortlessly off the ground, cradling you in his arms as if you were the most precious treasure in the world. "Let's ditch work and go on a date!"

I've been inspired to share my own list since I've been spending probably too much time on ao3 - hopefully it will be helpful for anyone looking to start reading rhaenicent (note that few are already mentioned in the above mentioned post)

The story follows two alternating timelines and you're equally invested in both. It's so so well written, you fall in love with the characters immediately, the pacing of the story line is incredible and with only 5 chapters published, I think story is slowly set up for the main arc. The author is an architect and you can feel the thought process and clear intention behind every line and action.

(WIP) Out of sun (by @lumyart )

Rhaenyra and Alicent share a complicated past. Skip 10yrs later, Alicent is an excellent surgeon, has three kids and a husband. Their paths cross again when Targaryen Enterprises start being involved with Alicent's hospital.

I feel like it's really hard to write about bdsm w/o making it feel gratuitous. That's not the case here. @lumyart involves it as one of the main plot points of the story. It explores the emotional/psychological reason/need behind kinks and how those relationships differ etc. The push and pull in their relationship is dizzying, as the story progresses we get snippets of their past and what went wrong between them and how did they get where they are now. It almost feels like you're uncovering a mystery. There's many layers to the story and each chapter gifts you one piece of the puzzle.

Absolute favourite of molter's fics and that's really hard to decide on.

This story made me want to start a campaign to get @molter-writes to actually write a rhaenicent Notting Hill AU.

Don't even read the summary. Just read everything and anything by @molter-writes , it will always deliver strong writing, a compelling storyline and characters that you can't help but fall in love with.

(WIP) Lying (in the hollows of your heart)  (by @wakesirens) 

I usually read only modern AUs (because of the misogyny in Westeros, I have enough of that irl thanks) but this fic is amazing nonetheless. Keeping Baelon alive and him being king gives us an alternate version of Rhaenyra's life. One where she's his most trusted advisor and representative of the Crown but she's not bound to the throne/realm in same way as the heir. This allows her to still attain power and freedom usually not afforded to women. Oh and Alicent works in a brothel.

Again it's just excellent writing! This one only has 1/3 chapters out but I'm already convinced that it deserves to be among top five fics. Only downside is that the story will only have three chapters, though a part of me is hoping that the author will change their mind and make it a longer story.

Side note, I keep imagining Alicent as Olivia Cooke's character from Slow Horses... great spy/thriller show btw

I keep thinking of. Little parallels while living w the bby!! (spoiler I divulged in other things) Like maybe in summer he's more. Susceptible to everything. The heat gets to him and while I'm sure he could do something about it with his magic (he's a master sorcerer afterall,, how I wish we had scenes with him showing off), he's still grumpy. Everything is so warm but him. Oof. Idk how deep I could go with this because he's still a God and a Frost Giant he's incredibly resistant and resilient but. Yeah I think the heat can get to him.

Anddd in winter he's normal and all, def feels better, and your warmth isn't so dreadful to him any more. It's balanced and can. Calm him maybe (ur getting frozen) :))) Idnedidjwi I want to hug Hi :)))) (btw I read that post with the FNAF balloon boy soynd I wasw cryicn)

And about him being rather chilly to the touch. I don't think Asgardians are that cool, so ... wouldn't that distinguish him from them quickly? Nobody is ever going to be that cold, so he's just. The only one that way. And he might've despised it even before he found out about being a Jötunn. Maybe he tried masking it as he got more familiar with magic, and he refrained himself from touching anyone. Maybe they've pointed that out so many times that he grew conscious of it. Perhaps he slowly began changing his ways as some of his partners mentioned it too as a simple comment, but of course, it was anything but simple to him. And the more he restrained himself, the more he missed the lingering caresses and the slight warmth they offered. And now he grew a little colder within, too, more reserved. But of course I don't think he's reserved only because of his insecurities, but also because he's got outstanding intellect and he reads people easily, so obviously he's more guarded and doesn't let anyone know his motives (which well that is also shown in the movies) — and he's a prince and a God, not someone anyone can talk to everyday.

Buuut to "balance" out those insecurities I vision him being more confident in his looks, shifting between sexes and being very comfortable with that aspect, boosting himself a bit. Like, external worth, he believes he's great and holds himself up too, he's royalty — while in terms of inner worth he's... a mess. Do you see the vision pt 2,,

Yeah your writing for him is really good !! It feels like Loki, and I love that. I sometimes hate reading Loki fics because he starts talking like a modern quirked up little English lad or a like… disgustingly American daddy dom™️ rather than the Shakespearean-esque creature he is and I have to change the dialogue in my mind and I do not have the vocabulary for that… I appreciate your vocabulary and awareness of his complexity 😞❤️

Wait no I always think of that… I live in a disgustingly warm climate and I know he would fucking hate it here. Loki and warmth… I imagine him subconsciously preferring colder/more room temperature water when bathing/showering. He’s taken hot baths before but is like… Is it supposed to burn like that? So he doesn’t do it often. Also he has a low tolerance to spicy food not because he’s sort of White/Scandinavian and not really used to it as it’s not popular in the cuisine he eats but because… Frost Giant… it burns! It’s not his fault 😞

I like to keep in mind the fact that heat SHOULD be one of his weaknesses. Loki is strong and has high endurance, but he’s also a Frost Giant. (You saw what happened to Laufey LOL)

It’s something that he cannot stand and also cannot endure for long. And of course there’s the whole “Thanos tortured Loki with heat and Loki was showing symptoms of heat exhaustion in Avengers” thing. I feel heat is VERY overwhelming for him. He becomes lightheaded and suddenly feels like he has a hundred layers of clothes on that he cannot take off. It’s suffocating. He does not like to sit by the fire he doesn’t have a high tolerance!!

If you want to weaken Loki… heat is your best friend.

@ Loki series writers he would not take hot baths nor would he feel a chill from a nonexistent breeze. I don’t give a fuck if it was just him flirting with Sylvie.

Ok I’ve never said this on here but I have this headcanon that Loki as a child would play pretend with Thor (maybe with some of their friends at the time as well) and Loki was always getting the Frost Giant role because he’s cold to the touch (and also because kids are evil sometimes LOL) 😞😞😞😞😞😞 which annoyed him because Frost Giant = bad!! But then the realization that comes many years later… 😞😞😞😞😞😞

Thor’s obsession with hunting the monsters down and slaying them all… maybe Loki wanted a chance to play the warrior/hero role as well, but NO he was always the Frost Giant!! Foreshadowing… 😛💅🏻

Wait I’ve thought about that too… the partner thing… he reaches out to touch them, and they’re all like “eesh!!” and flinch in surprise at how cold he is against their warmer skin, and Loki’s just like… Oh. Oh okay. And it just makes him feel dangerous even if obviously no one was harmed. Like people can’t melt into his touch because he’s so cold!! And people flinch at him!! And like you said, he becomes more cold and reserved GAHHHHHHHH

People always say he’s cold to the touch, but he doesn’t feel cold himself… and like ew why is everyone else so warm… is he perhaps ill? Then Thor 2011 happens. The realization™️ happens.

I do have a lot of.. thoughts about him touching a partner and his hands being so cold compared to their warm skin (which is especially warm due to the heat of the moment and all the excitement) but.. 😞 TOO SELF INDULGENT IT WILL BE A VERY OBVIOUSLY SELF INSERT FANFIC!!! Loki cold hands… GAHHHHHH

No exactly! So many people forget that Loki isn’t only reserved due to his insecurities, but also because he’s smart af and calculating and just better than everyone else idk… for some reason, those things cannot coexist... It’s either Loki hates himself and he’s super insecure and fragile and is just an innocent baby or it’s Loki is a narcissist and hates everyone around him and he’s a diva (💅🏻) and he’s a hedonistic asshole no in between🤦🏻‍♀️

I SEE THE VISION I HEAR EVERYTHING YOURE SAYING!!! THERES A BALANCE!! I do truly think Loki is self conscious about certain things but he’s also… confident about a lot. I don’t understand why people don’t get that. It’s so obvious. He’s not a narcissist, but he’s also not ENTIRELY self loathing. Like he canonically knows he’s highly intelligent and he uses that to his advantage lol. Everything he’s been “gifted” with, he uses. Even when he found out he was Jotun, which obviously he hated, he used his newfound abilities to his advantage.

I haven't stopped obsessing over these two and the fixation is still going strong so yeah, I've probably been one of the most active fic writers still kicking around in the tags. Apparently YWNTMBAH still manages to make people feel things and mess up their sleep schedule. People's passion for that fic really makes me feel good as an author and I'm happy it's still being enjoyed by many.

persona is not even that "bad" of a thing to be obsessed with. its *extremely* popular, both casually and obsessively. i think your art is great. i actually downloaded all your p2 art because there is not enough of p2 art in general (not to repost of course, fuuuuuck reposters, but to look at it again later even if i dont have wifi). i think your art is worthy of that. but even if it wasnt, its not healthy to bottle yourself up forever. if you want to express yourself, even if its fandom, even if its not something you can show off to non-fans, that matters. you deserve to be able to do that no matter what imo. and if its not safe to express yourself around your 'friends' like that, they suck. being able to complete rendered art like you have is genuinely a feat. ive always wanted to "draw" but ive never been able to get past shitty sketches on paper even when i had ideas. most people dont even try at all, even when they love something a lot. so i think you should be proud your love has "bore fruit" i guess. you can point to your work as the labor of your love. thats something really nice, i think. i hope you dont take any of this the wrong way (im not great at conveying tone) i mean all of this 100% on your side.

I love love love old homes and I also did a research project in college that involved reading historical letters so this was all just a really cool premise for me. Add in the snarky reader and grumpy joel and it's just heaven on earth for me.

Muddy Waters - a Joel / Ezra series by @bonezone44

This is like... weird. It gives me an eerie feeling. And that is such a fucking compliment btw. I am obsessed. The way you've written Ezra is so fucking interesting (and creepy). Love me a murder boy <3 And reader is really fascinating too ugh. This is so cool. (thanks toxic for pointing me to this w your rec ahhhh).

Bunny - a Javi P two shot by @whatsnewalycat

Obsessed with the premise here. Phone sex operator to get through school?? sign me up. The little Dale Gribble moment was delightful and then it's followed up by incredible phone sex with Javier. And then!!! Part TWO we get professor Javi, which is unfairly hot and the recognition from the voice and just.... oh my god it is everything. I mean this is just the perfect set up for dirty talk and boy does Javi have a mouth on him.

LJ's Bangathon - a Pedro Boys... bangathon? by @prolix-yuy

Every single one of these is incredible. I'm especially partial to the Oberyn x Sit on the Throne one because like... murder + dub con vibes and neither in the way you'd expect. I also adored Jack and Marcus Pike. Their dynamic was so good UGH. Anyway they're all amazing and you should read them.

Learning to Live - a Javi P series by @wheresarizona

This fucking fic is ruining my life. I've been completely consumed with it all week. I can see how a casual viewer of Narcos would say it's OoC for Javi, but I actually think it's kind of genius. Throughout the show you get all these slight glimpses into Javi's true nature: soft, sweet, caring, passionate, gentle... but he's so wrapped up in and beat down by everything in Colombia that he has to be an asshole or he won't fucking survive. The post-show Javi who is ready to start letting all that go is so fucking wonderful to see and I love that Cielito gets to help bring that out of him. The little moments of reconnecting with his family and remembering his mom bring me to tears. The long speeches in Spanish are just so lovely. If you need something to make you weak in the knees and a little teary eyed this is it. Passionate, adoring, filthy, gorgeous smut sandwiched between beautiful little moments of fluff and just the right amount of angst. Me encanta esta historia <3

With or Without You - a Javi P/Frankie series by @jksprincess10

Frankie is so adorable and sweet in this. He just wants to make reader feel good and he also wants to please Javi ugh. And reader is so mischievous getting Javi to do what she wants ahhhhh. And of course our dominant little Javi P is wonderful in this. Fucking top tier smut, Nad. We all know I love a MMF threesome fic lmao.

this is me trying - a Joel one shot by @swiftispunk

This is such a sweet platonic Joel and Ellie fic ugh. I really love fics that explore their relationship post season 1 and like... Joel coming to terms with everything. I loved the set up (similar to his panic attack in episode 6 when he sees the girl by the tree) and I love how Ellie comforts him in her own quintessentially Ellie way. You can see the bond they have where she just kind of knows what to do and say instinctively and it makes me so happy. I see a lot of fics where Joel is trying to comfort Ellie or get her to stop hating him for what he did and it's just really nice to see a fic where Ellie comforts him instead.

I Can Feel Your Heartbeat - a Jack (Whiskey) series by @psychedelic-ink

Cowboy Jack Daniels is a character who begs to be written as a stripper and this fic delivered. He's hot and sweet and I love it. Part two is sexy as all hell and features clumsy as fuck reader (which is so me). And then it drops the ANGST on you. God I love this. I cannot wait for part three.

I’m afraid there’s no archive set up as of yet, just pictures fans managed to save and pass around amongst themselves. Sauce did mention that they wanted to create an archive on the patreon before they closed their twitter. I don’t know if that’s still happening or not, but I imagine that’s taking a backseat to their personal recovery and making progress on their various projects. They have a lot on their plate right now, so it’s understandable that it might take a while.

I have quite a lot of old art saved myself, and I use some of the pieces here in my posts occasionally, with Sauce’s consent so long as I credit them. They’re really such a nice person. That’s why whenever I share some of their art, I like I plug the SnaccPop Studios Patreon and remind everyone not to repost any of the privately posted content elsewhere.

You can see a lot of Sauce’s art peppered around my blog, particularly in posts I’ve labeled as Headcanon Ramblings. Sometimes it really helps to illustrate my points, you know? Maybe I should add a Sauce-y tag sometime.

Sadly, I can’t show any of the NSFW art over here without heavy censoring. Tumblr might say they’ll allow non-erotic nudity again, but I suspect all it’ll take is one floppy ding-a-ling, some “female presenting” nips, or something a bit too spicy and suggestive and my blog will be taken out with an extinction level event.

I mean look at this. This is such a fun picture and all you get to see over here is Jack’s face. Sure I could show the man’s nips since he’s not “female presenting” but with the level of spice sprinkled in this picture, I’d rather not risk it. Such a shame. Not that I can complain about seeing a face like that. This clown is having a really good time and it shows. Sauce does great work with expressions don’t they?

You know, this picture actually looks pretty exploitable cropped like this. It looks like a good teaser illustration for some spicy writing. It seems like an awful shame not to do anything with this idea, don’t you think?

Jack moaned as he tipped his head back. His clothes were in disarray, his shirt rolled up close to his collarbone, his pants and underwear dangling off one of his legs, with the rest of his signature outfit nowhere in sight. His flushed skin glistened with sweat and bore countless pink patches that marked where Alice claimed him as hers with her mouth.

That same mouth was wrapped around him now, showing Jack love in a way that he had only dreamed about before. He lost count of how many fantasies he had about Alice going down on him, but no fantasy could ever hope to compare the real thing.

Alice had started with kisses that fluttered along his length delicately, but just as the teasing started to get too much, she switched to using her tongue. She tasted him thoroughly, making sure not a single inch was left untouched before she took the tip into her mouth.

“Oh Alice…,” Jack moaned before biting his lower lip. “Your mouth feels so good… so warm…”

Alice let out a low hum, and the vibration of her voice made him twitch a bit. She repeated the sound again, longer this time as she sucked on him, and she was gratified to see his eyes roll upward.

Jack was so big, bigger than anything Alice was used to. A part of her worried she might not be able to handle all of him without choking, but she was determined to try. She focused on relaxing her jaw as she dipped down as far she could before she had to draw back for a breath, taking him just a little bit further each time.

Jack twined his fingers through his sunshine’s fair hair as he watched Alice adoringly. “You’re doing so good…” She gazed up at him through nearly white lashes, and the way her blue eyes burned with desire that was only for him sent a jolt of heat directly into his core. “God… You look so beautiful like this. I love you so much.”

Alice wanted to respond in kind, but words were impossible for her at the moment, so she traced a heart on his inner thigh with her finger instead. Jack murmured her name in return, his rich voice dissolving into another moan as she teased him with gentle suction. She couldn’t get enough of his sweet words or all the adorable noises she coaxed out of him. It made her all the more determined to please and tease him.

I am so rusty at writing that I hesitate to ever talk about writing things, because I almost never finish them, and even if I did, I'm not sure I would share anything publicly right now lol sob, but I'd still like to try to write something for the KPTS Prompt Fest. So I wish to once again use polls to make my decisions for me! (Thank u all for ur help in the tv poll btw; having a great time w/ Theory of Love & Little Women!) Tl;dr: Help break me out of my decision paralysis and choose one thing for me to focus on writing! (Detailed prompts after the poll)

1. Vegas/Porsche arranged marriage:

Bonus points for Vegas resenting Porsche for being the son his father has always wanted (or in the version where Gun's already dead, for stealing his birthright), and plotting little schemes before their marriage to ruin him and the like, and Porsche disarming him the more they get to know each other. Extra bonus points if Vegas betrays him anyway, just like in canon, but the fondness is still real (for both of them), and makes it hurt more on both sides.

2. Vegas wakes up main family heir: Vegas goes to sleep wishing, not for the first time, that he'd been born to the main family. He wakes up in an alternate universe where his grandfather made Gun the main family heir, not Korn. Gun is not a better father in this timeline. 3. Vegaskinn arranged marriage: Korn strong arms the minor family into a marriage agreement to, he claims, ease the tensions between them, but actually because he would like to collect Vegas and Macau under his roof, like chess pieces or pokemon.

It would be fun if this were set after Vegas's big betrayal, as his punishment, instead of being blacklisted and going to the safehouse, but it can also be something AU/pre-canon. The hilarious idea popped into my head of Korn having already arranged Tankhun/Porsche and Kim/Chay marriages long before he decided Kinn/blood-related nephew should happen. Alternatively, maybe Kim/Chay and Kinn/Porsche as preexisting relationships make Korn confident in his hold on the Kittisawats, and he assumes Kinn/Vegas will be a loveless Emperor/Empress marriage up against Porsche as Kinn's most beloved noble consort. 4. Porsche and Big bodyswap: Cue Big experiencing the exquisite pain of Kinn looking at him with adoration and want, but it's not actually HIM he's looking at, and fighting himself on what to do when Kinn wants to touch him. Cue Porsche having to get along with Ken and pretend he loves doing nothing but shittalking himself all day. Cue Porsche picking up on the fact that Chan is completely gone for him (for Big) after years of Big missing all the signals? Comedy, angst, any ships you want!

5. Tankhun and Kim start hearing each other's thoughts, and can't turn it off. It's actually worse when they're not in the same physical vicinity, they start hearing more of what the other is thinking and worse, so they have to start spending a lot of time together to keep the thoughts calmer and less invasive. This means Kim joining Khun for horror movie night, and yes, he does have to dress up, and Khun joining Kim…on tour? Can he do it? And what do they learn about each other when they are physically separated? What lurks in the deeps of their psychologies?

6. Vegaspete, puppyplay. Vegas makes Pete wear puppy ears and a puppy tail butt plug and bark. Totally up to you if it's noncon at the safehouse or consensual after that.

7. Vegas sex pollens Kinn: Kinn is at a very important professional function surrounded by very important professional contacts when Vegas, who is also at said function, slips a drug with aphrodisiac properties into his food/drink/expensive cologne/whatever. Kinn valiantly tries to maintain his self-control, but he's only human, and before the end of the night someone — or even a team of someones — ends up having to somehow fuck Kinn until he cries while not giving any rival crime families any inkling. (@vegaseatsass note: I would 100% write this as Vegas planning to leave Kinn alone to deal with his situation, hoping he will fail but counting on Kinn superhumanly outlasting the drug, and then getting possessive about it and rushing in to take control the second it looks like Kinn's going to capitulate to unworthy outsiders. Apologies in advance to the anon that I am a Vegaskinn sicko and not a Kinn whump sicko; I hope they get this filled by a gangbang connoisseur!)

8. Vegaspete handcuffed together: Vegas and Pete are kidnapped at the auction. They wake up naked and handcuffed together. Vegas makes the most of it.

I’m doing pretty good, I’ve been writing Drabbles as of lately to keep the babes at bay as I work on my fics. I felt bad for not giving anyone anything to hold over on because I was working a bunch (which I got my hours fixed, but it burnt me out to the point I went nonverbal for awhile because I was so exhausted mentally interacting with customers all day— who don’t read the “be nice to our employees” signs btw so there’s some assholes for sure and I have to be nice even though I want to tell them to suck a dick 😭). But since I’m feeling a little better, I’m trying to give you guys something at least. (I also plan to draw a pride picture with my insert, Fem Chuuya, and Fem Dazai in honor of the lesbians because we love women 😩).

Anyways, if you’re having trouble wanting to write things, you could always brainstorm with me, I don’t mind. I find that I have a ton of ideas that I don’t put to use, so I wouldn’t mind sharing them and I’d love to see them in someone’s writing (only if you want to though <33).

Also, I loooove, love, love— when you guys like my writing at all, it really boosts how I feel about my own writing. I get scared to post something sometimes because I don’t think that it’s good enough for you guys, so it’s a relief when you guys do 🫶

ok so I 100% agree with all of your thoughts he definitely has some huge self worth issues with joining hellsing at a young age plus like basically being like Arthur’s parent/caretaker/butler it’s going to warp his sense of self for sure i mean he got thrust into a huge war plus he developed a smoking habit at a really young age. plus!! you’re so right about his wires being a metaphor for him being a puppet that’s so good.

but anyways I’m getting way off topic let me actually tell you my headcanons of how he grew up

i think his mother probably had him at a really young age and grew up with a scared neglectful mother who did very much love him but had a father that was extremely domineering, alcoholic and abusive while also being in the position of not being able to take care of him properly due to their own financial struggles. they did keep him for a short amount of time though and because of how his father was he tended to take out his anger out on Walter and his mother. I feel like eventually due to extreme pushing by his father his mother eventually gives him up to an orphanage so he’s basically abandoned by his parents at a really young age, traumatized, angry, and bitter and probably had extreme trust issues. he didn’t exactly have the best time in the orphanage either and he probably usually kept to himself most of the time and I feel like he’d probably snag some string or wire and learns string tricks to keep himself busy and I feel like at some point some of the kids noticed and began to bully him relentlessly about it and with how Walter grew up he eventually snapped and used what he learned to attack his bullies and I feel like by that point the orphanage administration are about to more or less be kicked out for being a troubled child or passing him off somewhere else but before that can happen I feel like Arthur Hellsing finds out about him and basically swoops in to “adopt” him for his own purposes to use for Hellsing

and that’s more or less my idea of how Walter grew up and how’s he’s like how he is when we see him in Hellsing: the Dawn :)

UMM SO my thoughts? i think that that instead of getting bullied he'd be kind of a bitch. not like a straight up bully pushing-people-into-lockers type thing but he'd intentionally cause a scene by being disruptive or by being unnecessarily vulgar and rude since he 1. learned it from his parents 2. has all that pent up anger and feelings of vulnerability and 3. he's looking for the attention he never got .

i feel like living w the hellsing family was a little rough for him at first since they didn't approve of his behavior but learned not to be a little cunt with counseling and affection (not anything special i might add, just compliments, but they were huge). sought attention by trying his hardest to be useful, likeable, etc and he'd get incredibly jealous of anyone else who was valued higher than him, but he learned to hide this very well w time. this is mostly why i see him taking great care of his appearance in his old age, it makes him feel young again

maybe he never got to really know his parents at all since world war II might've left them financially unable to support their child? or maybe he never got to meet his father since he was off to war, and his mother couldn't afford to support walter financially on her own. unsure if these are accurate i didndt really pay attention during history class. or at all really /j

and in general i see him as being afraid of death, being afraid of growing old and weak, being afraid of being replaced, and in a moment of weakness he might've figured he didn't have much to lose since he was going on 70 and that's around the expected lifespan for most. it was either die and be known as nothing more than a butler or live for eternity and potentially be known as the guy who defeated alucard

another side thought about his wires? yours would make the most sense if he were to grow up using them, but thinking about it idk what you could do with strings as a kid. like could he just do a mean yoyo trick or . .. /j /j i figured maybe he was just given and taught how to use specialized gloves with retractable wires inside which would explain the fact that the wires arent wrapped around his fingers but wouldnt explain why they're seemingly infinitely long. like you'd think his gloves (the fingerless ones iirc) would be specially designed for that but nooo kouta hirano HATES cool and practical character design

also is it just me or like writing smut has always been relatively easier than fluff or even suggestive banter type shit? because in smut, you can bullet point- yeah they gonna do this and this and this and call it a day but fluff requires some depth. a perfect setting for the fluff or angst to actually be enhanced.

And according to each author’s writing style, they have to add imagery, or like metaphors or engaging dialogues to make it work. For me, when I was writing suggestive/banter related fics for kuroo or gojo, I was staring at the screen in despair so that my brain conjures some smart words or a perfect setting for them to act on. So it was relatively harder for me. And if other authors have faced such similar challenges and yet post majority sfws, you can guess the amount of hardwork they’ve put into it and would love for any sort of appreciation of their work. And

Im not downplaying smut authors by any means, every piece of writing takes up a fair share of effort and even I’ve had my fair share of challenges in writing smut too because firstly I experience high key embarrassment proofreading it and secondly, good smut requires the same criteria too (it’s just sfw fics gets the floor to portray a reader’s personality more than its nsfw counterpart) it’s just we want the audiences to interact with these posts with the same enthusiasm and not read and toss it aside :((

i do agree that with smut if i have an idea of the dynamic i want and what the characters might be into, i can plan a course of action for what is going to happen. sometimes i start w smut and then incorporate the plot later tbh.

you’re absolutely right, there’s nothing wrong with reading and writing smut. no one is any better if they don’t read smut than those who do. personally my comment was only towards the select who constantly intake content on here and aren’t always careful about what they read. even heavily more so towards the porn link posts too. hence why my original comment said ‘some’ because obviously it doesn’t apply to everyone.

i really do admire those who are able to world build so fluently and with great detail whether that is in smut or not. i agree with your point that it may be a bit more complicated to build a story without smut if you’re focusing more on characterization, personality, and setting. smut pieces that bring this to the table seem like the longer ones for the most part, but that doesn’t mean shorter ones can’t either. also i know it’s another tricky thing to mention is how people go about making their reader with personality or not bc ppl complain anyway anyhow when there’s something they can’t identify with.

at the end of the day i just wish to keep supporting ppls writing in general but also wish the tumblr community was more friendly like it used to be. a lot of ppl seem discouraged lately about their writing and i hope that things can get better soon.

ahhh hello !!! im so flattered that you've asked me :')) and thank u sm, this means the absolute world <3 i'll try my best 😅 i'll try to include both literal writing tips and just general "when writing" tips, if that makes sense LOL but lmk if you'd like anything specific ^^

the cliché answer that always remains relevant: practice makes perfect. if ur just starting to write, let yourself put down what comes to your mind. don't expect to write shakespeare the first or second or hundredth time around. i always make the mistake of comparing myself to others when it comes to writing, but writing should be something you enjoy, and if YOU like it, then that's all that should matter

if you don't know where to start: start w something on pinterest for reference, like maybe a writing prompt! sometimes a line of dialogue or a description of prose can spark something within you, and you can start to expand from there

what i believe is my strongest suit in writing is dialogue lol ig a lot of people have trouble writing dialogue realistically, and my advice is to write it how you would say it. hardly anybody speaks in proper grammar all the time, so add in some breaks in thought, a couple filler words, jargon/slang, etc.! but DO write your dialogue in double quotes ""

describing things has always been a weak point of mine, but what i have found that helps me is to take your time to find the right words (sometimes the right word or phrase might come to you someplace other than in front of the computer lol so just be patient!). or you could try to word dump—whats the first thing that comes to mind when you picture it? what r the biggest, most important details that can help the reader imagine what you're seeing?

i find that having someone to be there with u is always helpful. i know that sharing your ideas and work w others might sound scary, but i promise you, having another pair of eyes to encourage u will help u out in the long run! even if it's just to bounce ideas off someone, u can get someone else's pov, too

reading for inspiration and learning purposes is always encouraged! i find so many people who's writing styles i absolutely adore here, and they make me want to keep writing and to improve aspects of my writing as well

that's all i can think of off the top of my head for now 😅 hopefully at least one of these things proves helpful!! you reaching out is already such a great step/leap of faith, and i really wish u well w your writing endeavors! if u have any questions, or even need someone to bounce ideas off of, don't be afraid to hmu <3 happy writing 😚

As usual, amazing characterization, I'm deeply enjoying ramattra's inner monologue. He's still got these conflicting moments of not particularly caring for human habits/nature (like sleep. ignore that he seriously needs some more metaphorical rest himself) and at the same time appreciating reader's trust to share these moments with him. Also he was laser focused to have counted how many minutes until they stopped snoring lmao I loooove when 'noticing the small details' is taken to this extreme, there's something very endearing about it

“Ramattra?” Your voice was hoarse as you sat up, sucking in air through your teeth and wincing.

“By your side.” He let his orb fall into his hand.

Okay now my favorite part of the chapter which is also the fic title THE GAME OF GO, I LITERALLY HAD THE BIGGEST GRIN WHEN I GOT TO THAT PART BC I HAD A FEELING I KNEW WHERE THAT WAS GOING AND IT'S SO MUCH BETTER THAN WHAT I IMAGINED

They let him go first? Okay. They placed the tile right next to his? Okayyy. They kept the board just for him?? Okay Okay. ACTUALLY WINNING?? BEATING HIS ASS AT GO THEN TELLING HIM YOU'RE STICKING TO HIS SIDE NO MATTER WHAT?? *insert that soyjack pointing meme* SYMBOLISM!!! TITLE REFERENCE!!!

This was a great cascade of events and also my favorite part about their dynamic (and how the fic is written), there's always two conversations happening at the same time with them; one with words and one without. And they both seem to see the two happening and it's so delicious

Three last things to note...

1. Ramattra holding back on his fantasies bc that's just silly it's never happening then the second reader goes "I'm staying btw" he immediately stops resisting LMAO

2. Zenyatta keeps getting referenced so I wonder if that's leading up to anything...

3. “… Please don’t ask me to shoot anyone though.” “We shall see.” THAT'S. THAT'S NOT A NO. RAMATTRA THAT'S NOT A NO.

What do I love about The Bad Batch? Okay, crazy story: when I first heard about it, it was a livestream from an older Star Wars Celebration event where Dave Filoni was talking about the concept (hope some of you know what I'm talking about), I actually brushed it off and was all like, "Whatever..." (Now I wanna go back in time and smack my past self for saying that). At that point, I was all caught up with TCW (the show that FINALLY got me into Star Wars and have been a fan since I was a teen). When the series finale premiered with TBB story arc, I was all like, "Okay..." and saw each group being the Leader, Nerd, Muscle, Emo Guy w/ the 20/20 Vision posse that's common in a lot of popular media, and I brushed that off. When Disney announced that there's a spin-off/TCW sequel about them, I was still like, "Whatever..." but gave the season one premiere a watch anyway...

...How could I brushed this off?

The second Omega came into the squad's life, that's when it all changed...and the rest was history! I haven't been obsessed with this fandom ever since my Voltron days! LOL As the show progressed, I just love love LOOOOVE each character and how the end of the Clone Wars affected them and such. There are no words to describe my love for the series now! If you're an artist, writer, creator, reader, etc? I'm an artist (and a reader of TBB fanfics <3). I drew a lot of Omega when the show premiered, and when season 2 came in I draw a lot of Tech and Phee of course! I draw a lot of manga-style art and drew a lot of manga/anime-styled Star Wars fanart back in my otaku days and it was rare to see SW fanart in that style. I'm currently working on a Tech x Phee fan comic adaption of my most favorite fanfiction, "The Right Partner" by Fennecsrifle (the author kindly gave me permission to do so). I wasn't able to work on it as much last year because I was working a completely original VTuber project (which is now live on YouTube). Whenever I'm not drawing fanart, I create art inspired by my Hmong-American heritage, culture, and identity. Please give my VTuber a support by subscribing to her channel!

What you love engaging with on Tumblr? I just love love LOVE fangirling about all things Bad Batch and other fandoms I enjoy like Zelda, Metroid, Ace Attorney, Transformers, and other Star Wars media! I don't live off of Star Wars alone, btw.

Any other fun facts about yourself that might create connections with others here?

I recently got into the whole VTuber scene myself since creating my original project last year. Before that, I was already familiar with them like Kizuna AI (the original VTuber), and enjoy Hololive (I love Tokino Sora, Suisei Hoshimachi, and Ceres Fauna).

Speaking of VTubing, I planned on streaming my art and even processes of the TechPhee doujinshi possibly over on Twitch (TBA). Plus other fun stuff like handcams of me sharing stuff too! In the meantime, here are my selfies that I wanna share:

I also love Transformers (especially the animated stuff). I grew up with Beast Wars and the Unicron anime trilogy, but I brushed that off...until Transformers Prime came into my life and I got into the fandom through that show. Sometimes you'll see some Transformers fanart from me. I even have a Tumblr page for a digital passion project fanzine about one of the human characters from that show, Miko, which focuses on her life in Japan before the events of the show -> @tfp-miko-zine

I also love Nintendo games since it's my childhood! I love me some Zelda, Metroid, and Ace Attorney. I would occasionally draw fanarts of those too.

Oh, and sometimes I animate too! I've been teaching myself 2D animation since 2020. But the irony was that I wasn't a big fan of doing it due to it being laborious...but I told myself that it might be handy one day. Illustrations are great, but animating that piece of art is better too.

Tech is my favorite Batcher after all that character development he got in season 2! *cries*
